Workshop
on SCM Patterns Ross Fraser NueVista Group |
Abstract
The first part of this
meeting will be a presentation on Software Configuration Management (SCM) by
Ross Fraser. Ross will argue that no single standard or best practice describes
THE right way to perform SCM. Instead SCM is best viewed as a portfolio of
processes, each of which is a solution that prevents or mitigates specific
types of problems arising from failures of communication, coordination or
control. Moreover, the correct application of these processes depends on the
existence of impediments to communication, coordination and control.
The second part of the meeting will be a
workshop in which we identify common SCM problems along with the processes to
address them and the circumstances in which these processes work. Bring your
problems and/or your solutions. Let's take full advantage of this opportunity
to learn from each other.
